Adare and Bunratty October 19th and 20th

We are winding down our trip in Bunratty because it is close to Shannon Airport.

We left our cozy little cabin in the Wicklow Mountains this morning after getting the ice off of the windshield. It has been chilly but much colder obviously in the mountains. Our trip down to Bunratty was on back roads for part of the way through areas of horse country and stud farms
but mostly on major highways. That is until we got to the road or should I say lane of the AirB&B. Man it was a really dangerous road with curves and rock walls with to place to move over to the side in some places. Thankfully it wasn't a long lane.

On the way down, we stopped in Adare to see the charming thatch roof cottages that we so liked the last time we were there in 2002.

Tired after the long ride we had dinner at a local pub and returned to our place before dark. Our hostess had come in to show us around and started a fire in the wood stove for us. Very nice private apartment with all amenities. We also had views of the River Shannon. Wonderful accommodations.

Our last full day in Ireland was much less driving and sightseeing. We visited Bunratty Castle, toured the grounds and thatch roof cottages, climbed the narrow staircases to view the many levels of the Castle and had dinner at Durty Nellys. That done, we returned and relaxed by the fire.  Wonderful way to end our trip.
