County Mayo

We left Shannon Airport at 9am.  Drizzly, cold weather but thankfully not too hard a rain so we were able to see the roundabout signs and there were plenty of them! After missing one of our turns, we had a 15 minute departure from the correct route, but it changed our route considerably. We muddled through and arrived in Westport in County Mayo about noontime. Tim is adjusting to the left side of the road but I’m not sure I am.

It hasn’t been a good day for photos but the sun peeks through and the majestic countryside of green rolling hills with their rock walls, sheep and cattle are beautiful. We even saw a rainbow...good luck for the rest of our stay me thinks.

Westport is really a charming quaint village with its shops, canal, bridges, clock tower and octagon shaped roadway. The roads out this way seem to getting narrower and narrower. In fact, the road into our Airbnb was a single lane for two way traffic.. including a bridge at a curve in the road.

Our lodging is what we expected for the most part. Way out in the country overlooking pastures, rolling hills and those exceptional rock walls. What we didn’t expect was that the bathroom and shower area is a separate building to which we have to walk across the deck...hope it doesn’t rain too hard tonight!

The coziness of the cabin with the peat moss burning and those wonderful views is very relaxing. Just what we need for being up over 24 hours now. So good day to you.

Tomorrow will come soon enough.
