Travel to Tramore October 15th

This morning brought back the beautiful blue skies and a chill in the air.

We took the car ferry (an inexpensive trip -8 euros round trip purchased yesterday)across the harbor to Cobh to make our way up to Midleton and the Jameison Distillery for a tour. We had toured the Dublin facility in 2002, but now this is the only one still in operation. A lot of explanations as to the process and a tasting comparison at the end between Jameisons, Johnny Walker Black and Jack Daniels. Not being a whiskey drinker, I still thought that Jameisons was the best. Tim concurred and we bottled our free drinks to take with us. We didn't drink and drive!

Since we were so close to Mogeely we decided to drive through the town where some of my ancestors on my matetnal grandmother's side lived. They  were the Walshes from Bawnadown.. not sure but I think it was actually in Dungourney just up from Mogeely. A Walsh married a Leahy at some point and now the family homestead of my great grandfather is known as owned by the Leahy's.
Sounds ridiculous but my Mother whose Mother was a Walsh, married a Leahy in the USA whose parents came from Cork in 1898.
Could they be my relatives on both side of my family tree? Investigation is really needed, me thinks.

We drove along the coast once again and around every turn was a beautiful sight of green cliffs and crashing waves..turn around and there are rolling fields of green with rock walls and sheep.

We arrived in Tramore to find welcoming hosts, Jane and Dermot, and a cute cottage with all the amenities we could need. The cliff walk above the ocean is just outside their back gate and is a paved path to the beachside shops and restaurant where we had dinner. The walk back up was challenging  but we needed the exercise!
